My mom is this liberal, feminist, Mormon powerhouse. I just love her to death.

Well, when I moved to L.A. at 17, I had just come out of high school. I grew up and went to public school in Boston.

Growing up I was as big a tomboy as you can get.

Shaft was a pop culture figure along t he lines of, I guess, Dirty Harry - except that he wasn't as much of a racist. So yeah, I was always a fan.

I have a naturally camp sensibility and a camp sense of humour. I love the icons that gay people love.

It took me realizing that a broken heart has never actually killed anyone to find the courage to ask for what I want, in just about every situation. That was part of my own growing up.
