I feel like Canadian movies should be as good or better than the competition because of the talent we have here. Someone like Ryan Gosling shouldn't have to come back here because it's a Canadian movie. He should want to come back because some of the best movies are being made here.

I'm a jeans and t-shirts kind of guy, but there have definitely been moments where I'm like, 'You know what? I need to upgrade a little bit.' I've tried to snazz things up as much as I can, with me being as lazy as I am.

If I'm serious, yes, I'd like to have done what Shakespeare did... to act and write. You learn so much from acting. One of our great writers, Alan Bennett, does both supremely well. When I write a story, I tend to speak it aloud as I'm writing it.
