Photography is the simplest thing in the world, but it is incredibly complicated to make it really work.

In New York, you have the street; in the U.K., we have the beach. I end up being like a migrating bird, being attracted to it.

Wealthy people have not disappeared, they are just not so willing to show off their wealth.

Recently, I was in Bernalda, my dad's ancestral home town in Italy. He has just refurbished a palazzo and turned it into a hotel, so we had my sister's wedding there. It was beautiful.

You could put this record on and not get jarred half-way through. I wanted it to be all cut from one cloth, and that was the way we took it through the whole production process.

I give the spectator the possibility of participating. The audience completes the film by thinking about it; those who watch must not be just consumers ingesting spoon-fed images.
